Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Analyze student behavior and academic progress and assist teachers in providing evidence-based strategies to reach student academic and behavioral goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Valid Texas Teacher Certification in the appropriate grade level

At least 3 successful years as a classroom teacher

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong knowledge of best practices in student discipline and classroom management

Strong presentation skills

Experience in conflict resolution and problem solving

Excellent collaboration skills with students parents teachers and administration

Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills both in writing and verbally

Ability to interpret data and effectively communicate results

Ability to use a variety of technology devices and programs

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Sitting; bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding; reaching

Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and maintain professional demeanor under stress

Travel: Occasional district-wide travel

Regular attendance is an essential function.

Minimum Experience:

At least three successful years as a classroom teacher

Handle with Care training preferred

Graduate hours in Education or related field preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Work with classroom teachers to improve the students academic and behavioral success.
  2. Mentor students one-on-one to target academics and behaviors that need improving.
  3. Model effective classroom techniques for the teachers.
  4. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with administration teachers students and parents.
  5. Provide support and guidance for classroom teachers to best practices in academics and classroom management.
  6. Assist in building campus systems and academic processes to improve student attendance and academics.
  7. Support the existing discipline system adopted by the campus.
  8. Provide assistance to students who are in and transitioning back to the campus from ISS OSS or AEP.
  9. Analyze data to assist campus administrators in determining the patterns leading to behavioral issues and academic failures.
  10. Coach classroom teachers on strategies focused on behavior and academic change.
  11. Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress through formative and summative evaluations; provide progress reports as required.
  12. Model professional and ethical work conduct.
  13. Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations.
  14. Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.
  15. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities as required.
  16. Ensure confidentiality.
  17. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  18. Comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
  19. Other duties as assigned.
