Chief Nursing Officer - Behavioral Health Hospital

Position Title: Chief Nursing Officer
Department: Residential Treatment Center (RTC)
Reports To: CEO/COO
FLSA Status: Exempt
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Confidential Client Behavioral Health Hospital (inpatient) Center (Georgia)

Salaried position pay range: $90000 to $110000 / annually

Position Overview

Eternal Medical Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on behalf of a confidential client in the behavioral health sector. The facility is located within the Middle Georgia Area. The CNO will serve as a key executive leader responsible for overseeing and advancing the quality and delivery of nursing and patient care services within a residential treatment center. This role holds 24-hour accountability for all nursing functions and will directly report to the CEO and/or COO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of nursing services and ensure high standards of patient care across the behavioral health facility.

  • Conduct clinical assessments and deliver nursing interventions including monitoring vital signs medication administration and patient evaluations.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to align nursing care with clinical and discharge planning.

  • Provide patient education related to medication and physical health concerns particularly related to addiction and co-occurring mental health issues.

  • Recruit train supervise and evaluate nursing staff; ensure adequate staffing coverage at all times.

  • Develop implement and monitor Quality Improvement (QI) plans in accordance with internal and regulatory guidelines.

  • Ensure all staff are properly trained in caring for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders.

  • Maintain compliance with all state licensure and agency training requirements.

  • Lead efforts in patient engagement care coordination and continuity of care planning.

  • Represent nursing services in organizational meetings and contribute to strategic and operational planning.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    • Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (required)

    • Masters degree in Nursing or a related healthcare leadership field (preferred or currently pursuing)

  • Licensure:

    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing

    • At least 3 years in a supervisory or administrative role within an inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric setting

  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong leadership and team management skills

    • Proven ability to think critically and solve complex problems

    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

    • High level of organizational and time management skills

    • Comfortable navigating information systems and healthcare technologies

    • Ability to build effective relationships with patients clinicians leadership and stakeholders

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Occasional sitting standing and bending

  • May occasionally lift up to 20 pounds

  • Must be able to respond appropriately in situations involving agitated or aggressive patients
