Job Description
Maintenance Operative. Dalton Court Care Home
- £12.60 per hour
- 30 hours a week
- Shift pattern 8:30am-5pm (with some flexibility)
Dalton Court Care Home nestled in the heart of Cockermouth with breathtaking views of the Lake District fells is a 60-bed home offering exceptional Nursing Dementia Palliative and Respite care. We’re proud to provide a warm supportive environment for both residents and staff.
We’re now looking for a dedicated Maintenance Operative to help keep our home safe welcoming and running smoothly.
What you’ll be doing:
- General Maintenance – Carry out day-to-day repairs basic plumbing decorating and upkeep of the building.
- Safety First – Perform regular checks on fire alarms boilers lifts and ensure full compliance with health & safety standards.
- Outdoor Care – Keep our gardens car parks and outdoor spaces tidy and well-maintained.
- Stock & Supplies – Manage tools and materials efficiently ensuring everything is in place when needed.
- Team Support – Help new staff get familiar with the building and fire safety procedures.
- Record Keeping – Maintain accurate logs of all maintenance and safety checks.

*Overtime is paid for working over fulltime hours. Free meals are given if working over an 8 hour shift and are subject to terms and conditions. Discounts are accessed using our ‘Reward Me’ app. Flexible pay is available via ‘WAGESTREAM’.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: A background in property maintenance including basic plumbing skills would be beneficial
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues effectively and efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for maintaining high standards across all areas.
- Caring Nature: A patient approachable and professional manner.
- Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety requirements and procedures would be beneficial but training will be provided
