About this job:

The PartnerRe Groups Technical Reporting team are responsible for the accounting and reporting of the Groups non-life (re)insurance and retrocession. This includes the Groups various legal entities including in Ireland Bermuda USA and Singapore.

Were looking for a highly motivated Senior Manager to join the PartnerRe Group Technical Reporting Team.  The role will report directly to the Group Head of Technical Reporting and form part of a team of nineteen.

In this role you will be a key member of the management team providing technical & analytical leadership to the USGAAP quarterly close process for the Group and its legal entities in addition to driving finance transformation and automation of the reinsurance and retrocession accounting and reporting.

About the role:

  • Managing the day-to-day reporting requirements of the Reinsurance and Retrocession Accounting Teams to deliver required information with the highest quality and on a timely basis.
  • Spearhead process improvements and efficiencies by implementing best practices standardization and cutting-edge automation technologies to optimize workflows and enhance overall productivity. Being proactive in developing/improving processes and proposing ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Documenting processes and designing controls to set a strong governance and control environment.
  • Analysis and control of the technical financial results of the Group and supporting downstream Group and Legal Entity 
  • functions (e.g. FP&A Legal Entity CFOs) with their analysis of the financial results.
  • Collaboration with downstream operations and underwriting functions in relation to new and existing contracts.
  • Assessment of accounting for new contracts and oversight of complex accounting issues working closely with the Accounting Policy Team in this regard.
  • Liaising with external and internal auditors.
  • Support the wider Group finance team on projects that may arise

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience in Financial Reporting or similar role within the (re)insurance industry or experience in Big 4 with focus on reinsurance.
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance/retrocession contractual wordings and technical reinsurance/retrocession accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools particularly MS Excel.
  • Experience with advanced data management (e.g. Alteryx) and business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI) is a plus.

Qualifications :

About you:

  • Qualified accountant with at least 10 years PQE.
  • Undergraduate in Finance Accounting or related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to coordinate and balance projects with the business-as-usual in a time sensitive environment.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Proven track record of transformation within finance and a passion for driving change.
  • Attention to detail with an analytical mindset.
  • Good communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external partners across various jurisdictions.
  • A motivated reliable and flexible team player that enjoys solving problems with a positive attitude.
