Job Description

Overview
The PGT English (Post Graduate Teacher in English) plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of students in secondary education. This position requires a dedicated and knowledgeable educator who can foster a love for literature enhance students communication skills and develop critical thinking abilities. The PGT English is responsible for designing engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs and support the curriculum goals. With a focus on developing students written and oral communication skills the role also emphasizes the importance of instilling a passion for reading and analysis of literature. By creating a supportive learning environment the PGT English contributes significantly to the academic and personal growth of students preparing them for future challenges in higher education and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
  • Teach advanced English language skills literature and composition to students.
  • Utilize various instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Assess student progress through quizzes tests and assignments; provide timely feedback.

  • Organize and conduct workshops debates and extra-curricular activities related to English.
  • Guide students in the effective use of technology for research and projects.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and manage student behavior appropriately.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to promote interdisciplinary learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student performance and development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends.
  • Incorporate contemporary literature and diverse perspectives into the curriculum.
  • Encourage a reading culture among students through book clubs and reading lists.
  • Support students in preparing for competitive exams and higher studies.
Required Qualifications
  • Masters degree in English Education or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or licensure for secondary education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of English literature and language.
  • Proficient in using educational technology and digital resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create engaging and innovative lesson plans.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and assessment techniques.
