Job Title: Auto Dealership Office Manager/Controller

Location: Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet Buick GMC West Plains Missouri

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: Discussed During Interview Process/ Based on Experience

Reports to: Executive Manager / Dealer Principal

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Office Manager/ Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations of our automotive dealership. The ideal candidate will play a key leadership role in managing the dealerships financial integrity internal controls compliance and reporting. This role requires a proactive hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong background in automotive accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the accounting operations including A/R A/P payroll general ledger and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and operational reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all local state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing process.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard dealership assets.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff and office personnel.
  • Work closely with department managers to provide financial insights and support budgeting efforts.
  • Coordinate annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of all dealership transactions including vehicle sales repair orders and warranty submissions.
  • Implement and maintain dealership accounting procedures and policies in line with industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience preferably in a dealership or automotive retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership accounting software (Automate CDK Reynolds & Reynolds Dealertrack).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
