About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established player in the construction materials and protective coatings industry delivering specialised solutions across industrial and marine projects. As part of their ongoing technical expansion in West Africa they seek an experienced Coating Advisor (or Senior Coating Advisor depending on experience) to join their team.
This hands-on technical role is ideal for candidates with strong site supervision experience in protective and marine coatings. It requires excellent communication deep product knowledge and the ability to maintain quality under challenging conditions. Candidates must be willing to travel to and stay on-site during project phases.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and advise contractors and applicators on proper surface preparation mixing application techniques and curing processes.
- Conduct pre-application meetings with clients applicators and stakeholders to clarify requirements and technical concerns.
- Monitor adherence to specifications safety protocols and quality standards for protective and marine paint systems.
- Perform on-site inspections and testing (e.g. surface profiles DFT checks climate condition readings).
- Maintain daily site reports detailing progress issues corrective actions and schedule compliance.
- Troubleshoot coating issues and provide practical solutions under challenging on-site conditions.
- Liaise with internal sales technical and R&D teams to provide feedback and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Deliver training sessions for contractors and site teams on coating application best practices.
- Stay current with industry standards and certifications (ISO SSPC NACE IMO etc.).
- Promote safety and environmental compliance in all activities and work environments.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- . or in Chemistry Paint Technology or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in technical service or site management within the coatings industry.
- It is highly desirable to be a Certified Coating Inspector (e.g. NACE Level 2/3 SSPC FROSIO or BGAS).
- Strong understanding of surface preparation coating systems and application processes.
- Excellent reporting documentation and inspection tool skills.
- Comfortable working in demanding on-site environments and extended travel as needed.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to manage multiple stakeholders on-site.
