Job Description
Position: Research VA
Work Type: Fully Remote / Work From Home
Project Location: Australia
Key Responsibilities:
Trend Research & Analysis
- Monitor social platforms (TikTok Instagram YouTube Pinterest) for emerging beauty trends
- Analyze trend reports from industry sources (e.g. WGSN Spate Trendalytics)
- Identify short- and long-term trends in ingredients packaging product categories and consumer behavior
Ingredient & Product Research
- Track rising and declining beauty ingredients and their functional benefits
- Research new product launches across retail sites (Sephora Ulta Amazon niche DTC brands)
- Compile comparative product analysis (claims formats pricing)
Competitive Analysis
- Study and summarize strategies from leading beauty brands and startups
- Identify gaps and white space opportunities in the market
Consumer Insight Gathering
- Conduct basic sentiment analysis through product reviews and social media
- Use Google Trends Reddit and forums to detect consumer interest shifts
Reporting & Presentation
-Prepare clear visually engaging weekly or monthly trend reports
- Create Excel sheets dashboards or Notion pages to organize insights
- Provide actionable recommendations for marketing product development or content teams
Requirements:
- Proven experience in research trend analysis or virtual assistant roles (preferably in beauty or fashion)
- Strong understanding of beauty industry dynamics (skincare cosmetics wellness)
- Familiarity with trend forecasting tools (WGSN Spate Trendalytics Google Trends etc.)
- Proficiency in organizing data in tools like Excel Google Sheets Notion or Airtable
- Solid written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
Bonus: Experience with Canva PowerPoint or other visual tools to present findings
Work Setup:
- Remote / Virtual (flexible time zone coordination)
- Part-time or full-time depending on workload
- Weekly check-ins deliverables via Google Drive or Notion
