The basics of this position:

The Division Dean Academic Affairs is responsible for the overall operation of the respective academic pathway. Under the direction of the assigned pathways Campus President and Chief Academic Officer (CCAO) the dean has both the authority and responsibility for planning budgeting staffing personnel matters and other academic matters. The dean also works collaboratively with appropriate stakeholders to ensure that the class schedule meets the needs of students wherever classes in their pathway are scheduled. The dean collaborates with other Campus Presidents and other campus leaders to ensure facilities and services meet the needs of students faculty and staff on other campuses where their pathways are located. The dean oversees the areas of curriculum instruction class schedules academic opportunities accreditation requirements and other academic matters related to their assigned pathways and supports faculty to ensure these areas are current follow best practices meet workforce needs and meet the needs of the students. The dean supports all students within their assigned pathway by working collaboratively with other College units external agencies and community partners. Finally the dean ensures division compliance with Board Policy Administrative Procedures and employee resolutions.

What youll do:

  • Articulates and ensures alignment of the divisions and pathways goals with the Colleges strategic plan mission vision and values.
    In collaboration with the CCAO and other deans provides curricular leadership to meet College-wide goals.
    o Makes recommendations and provides support to faculty for the purposes of initiating revising delivering or eliminating academic programs and courses.
    o Supervises department chairs and program coordinators through an iterative process in the construction of class schedules based on student and program needs; responds to questions and comments related to course schedules from other areas of the College.
    o Ensures assessment activities program review responses program viability responses advisory board meetings accreditation requirements and other initiatives are completed and documented according to prescribed deadlines.
    o Ensures the curriculum instruction class schedules academic opportunities accreditation requirements and other academic matters related to their assigned pathways are current follow best practices meet workforce needs and meet the needs of the students.
    Leads coordinates develops implements and assesses assigned campus and district-wide initiatives.
    Facilitates the resolution of disagreement or conflict among stakeholders.
    o Meets with students faculty and staff to hear complaints appeals or concerns and provides responses as required following relevant joint resolutions policies and procedures.
    Provides oversight over all fiscal matters related to the divisions pathways.
    o Prepares and submits funding requests and oversees the annual budget for the divisions pathways; ensures resources are allocated appropriately at all campuses where the divisions pathways are offered.
    o Completes documentation or provides approvals for business services and human resources functions.
    o Provides responsibility for ensuring that all grant activities are completed in a timely manner.
    o In conjunction with the Office of Institutional Development identifies external funding sources and authors or co-authors grants that can support existing activities of the assigned pathways can develop new programs and can create new training opportunities for students staff faculty and community partners.
    Analyzes and utilizes data for continuous improvement.
    Maintains professional and technical knowledge in higher education leadership.
    In collaboration with the CCAOs establishes and/or supports community partnerships that align with the mission and strategic initiatives of the College.
    o Represents the division and the College to students parents professional organizations articulation partners business and industry in cooperation with other College units.
    Collaborates with other Campus Presidents and other campus leaders to ensure facilities and services meet the needs of students faculty and staff on other campuses where their pathways are located.
    Performs normal supervisory functions: trains; assigns work to division personnel; recommends transfers and terminations; arranges for additional work or need for overtime; explains and enforces College policies safety rules and regulations; evaluates performance.
    Communicates information effectively to both supervisors and supervisees.
    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education experience and other requirements:

o Earned masters degree from a regionally accredited institution required
o Licensed as a healthcare provider in a healthcare program offered in the Health Sciences division at STLCC.
o Three (3) years of work experience as a licensed healthcare provider.
o Five (5) years of full-time experience in higher education including significant teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

o Terminal degree is preferred
o Progressively responsible administrative experience preferred.
o Community college experience preferred.
