Job Description
To perform a full range of custodial duties related to the cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities; and to run errands or deliver packages and supplies as needed. The Custodian is directly supervised by the Facilities Manager and is subject to work overtime.
Essential Functions:
- Clean and sanitize restroom facilities/kitchenettes/work areas and fixtures including sinks urinals and toilets; wash windows mirrors and walls; clean and sanitize showers and appliances as assigned; replenish supplies in the restrooms and kitchenettes/work areas
- Cleans sweeps vacuums mops waxes strips and polishes floors including stairways and elevators; vacuums and shampoos carpets/rugs
- Dust and polish furniture woodwork fixtures and equipment; clean desks and counter tops
- Washes windows inside and out
- Empty clean and sanitize waste receptacles in classrooms offices and work areas daily; pick up papers and other debris daily
- Help move and arrange furniture and equipment and set up rooms for conferences and meetings
- Regulate ventilation and temperature; clean air vents as required
- Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities
- Deliver packages and supplies as needed
- Replace lights and adjust shades and blinds
- Ensure the building is secure after hours and ensure that all lights are turned off at the end of the night shift
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
Other Functions:
- Follows fire safety procedures and regulations
- Ensures all maintenance/custodian equipment and supplies are accounted for at all times
- Operates heavy cleaning equipment such as scrubbing machines high speed buffers carpet shampooer or wet and dry vacuum
Qualifications and Requirements:
One-year related experience and/or training in janitorial service industry. Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures; knowledge of the materials supplies and equipment utilized in cleaning activities. Any educational or experiential qualifications to be considered as equivalent in lieu of the above minimums require prior approval from the Superintendent or designee.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and depth perception. Must embrace cultural diversity awareness and have the ability to work with a diverse population. Must possess a valid drivers license.
