Role Summary:

The Sr. Compliance Specialist leads in developing implementing testing and administering the credit unions compliance program including but not limited to; fair lending privacy business support findings monitoring change management and training to ensure organization-wide internal controls are in place. This role reports to Regulatory Compliance Manager/Team Leader.

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Oversee new developments and changes to products and services including promotional advertising campaigns media and solicitations and provide input
  2. Conduct compliance gap analyses across different product lines and credit union activities to identify trends risks and opportunities to meet best regulatory practices
  3. Review and revise credit unions member facing forms and disclosures for compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  4. Conduct regulatory compliance risk assessments timely and accurately
  5. Guide Gesas management and team members in resolving compliance issues effectively
  6. Work with legal counsel in reviewing contracts forms and disclosures that meet the needs of the credit union and comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  7. Review and develop forms necessary for all processes and work with legal counsel when legalities may be in question
  8. Work closely with legal counsel to understand legal implications and develop best mitigation strategies
  9. Review operational policies and management directives to ensure they are current and in compliance with regulations and the credit union best practices
  10. Develop and implement compliance review and assessment process to ensure compliance at all levels including accuracy of policies procedures disclosures forms marketing materials etc.
  11. Act as compliance subject matter expert and second line of defense to provide support and oversight to ensure the effective operation of the Compliance Management System enterprise wide to support the businesses in meeting compliance program and regulatory requirements and facilitating engagement with other compliance resources as necessary
  12. Stay abreast of the regulatory environment by conducting compliance research and analysis of new/pending laws and regulations maintaining a working knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations
  13. Enhance business compliance through expert consultation review and support for compliance requirements assessments regulatory changes product and service changes process changes findings remediation and business compliance questions
  14. Conduct compliance monitoring reviews assist with analysis of self-identified issues recommend corrective action and control enhancements and communicate results of review activity to compliance and business unit leadership
  15. Manage compliance projects effectively by planning coordinating and executing tasks related to policy development regulatory reporting and process improvement within established timelines and budget constraints
  16. Assist with implementation of changes into business operations
  17. Review marketing collateral and member facing materials for regulatory compliance
  18. Complete compliance due diligence on new and existing vendors
  19. Develop and deliver reporting on state of compliance within lines of business
  20. Assist in tracking corrective action resulting from audits exams internal reviews risk assessments and other areas
  21. Assist with monitoring and auditing a variety of reports to ensure compliance with the credit unions policies procedures and regulations
  22. Utilize information systems as they relate to the needs requirements and issues pertaining to regulatory compliance
  23. Perform administrative support as necessary for completion of assigned tasks and other job-related duties as assigned by the Regulatory Compliance Manager or VP of Compliance
  24. Regularly communicate in a tactful manner with the credit union team members because of follow-up to monitoring compliance tasks
  25. Attend credit union training sessions conferences or seminars as approved by the Regulatory Compliance Manager and/or VP of Compliance
  26. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities
  27. Participate in special department projects as requested
  28. Keep Compliance leadership informed of key operating issues affecting areas of responsibility
  29. Serve as a member of a project team(s) in the capacity of a compliance resource for the implementation of technology processes procedures or the development of training materials and/or act as a compliance resource for the credit union
  30. Ensure that all work updates change requests and compliance reviews are completed in a timely and efficient manner

About You:

  1. Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills by clearly conveying complex compliance information and updates to staff. Foster open dialogue to ensure understanding and address compliance concerns effectively. Acts as a key liaison for compliance matters
  2. Demonstrate a deep understanding of financial institution compliance and regulatory requirements by staying current with changes and effectively applying them to ensure the credit unions adherence to national state and local laws and regulations
  3. Apply critical thinking to identify compliance issues and evaluate the effectiveness of policies and procedures. Use data analysis to make informed recommendations and solve complex compliance problems
  4. Show proficiency in developing and revising policies and procedures by collaborating with management to ensure they meet regulatory standards and effectively address compliance needs
  5. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold high ethical standards in handling and reporting financial and compliance matters. Demonstrate strong integrity and respect for personnel data
  6. Exhibit strong mathematical and analytical skills to interpret data effectively supporting informed decision-making and accurate report generation. Perform detailed data analysis with precision and accuracy
  7. Utilize financial systems and office equipment with high proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite Compliance management system Complaint Management system etc. Demonstrate advanced technical skills in operating personal computers 10-key and related tools for efficient data processing.
  8. Collaborate effectively with team members and departments while demonstrating strong independence in managing tasks. Show adeptness at balancing collaborative efforts with autonomousresponsibilities contributing to team projects and operational processes efficiently
  9. Project management and risk assessment skills

What You Will Need:

  1. Bachelors degree in legal studies business finance or related field required
  2. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience compliance experience within a financial institution or at a financial institution regulatory agency required
  3. One (1) or more related compliance certifications required (e.g. CRCM - Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) CRCP - Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional CUCE - Credit Union Compliance Expert NCCO -National Association of National Credit Union Certified Compliance Officer CUCS-Certified Credit Union Compliance Specialist)
  4. Understanding of reporting requirements of regulatory agencies relevant to assigned tasks
  5. Display values including mutual respect trust honesty and dignity and acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example by displaying solid ethics and integrity at all times
  6. Some travel required to complete credit union training or approved professional training

Salary Range:

Richland WA: $32.76 - $49.14

Lynnwood WA: $35.81 - $53.71

Spokane WA: $31.75 - $47.62

Tukwila WA: $38.41 - $57.62
