The City of Johnson City Tennessee is accepting online applications for a Seniors Transportation Aide Coordinator. The employee performs responsible semiskilled work providing transportation bus and van maintenance technical and clerical tasks; provides bus transportation to and from the Center and community locations. Performs assigned tasks to assist with programs special events and technology needs. Employee keeps weekly schedules of transportation runs. The employee also performs clerical work related to the transportation program. This position provides transportation to and from the center and coordinating locations. This work involves considerable direct contact with the public and is usually performed in accordance with specific instructions from the Senior Program Supervisor. Progress is reviewed for compliance with instructions. Cleans vehicles inside/out a minimum of once per week.
Essential Functions of Position:
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of state driving rules and regulations; thorough knowledge of city streets and the location of appropriate buildings and centers; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with senior citizens; patience in dealing with senior citizens; willingness to learn and perform assigned tasks. Ability to use a computer.
Acceptable Experience and Training: Graduation from high school or GED; or any equivalent combination of experiences in training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Possession of a Class C CDL with P endorsement drivers license issued by the state of Tennessee. CPR and First Aid certification. Pre-employment physical drug screening and background check required.
