Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Program Assistant will be working within the Bureau of Vital Records. The incumbent will assist and conduct trainings and informational presentations at local county regional and statewide meetings and training schools sponsored by organizations such as the Association of Towns the Conference of Mayors County Associations and Town Clerks; respond to routine questions issues and concerns posed by local Registrars and Town/City Clerks across NYS regarding the filing of birth death and marriages; provide administrative support for the consolidation of registration districts; assist with monitoring registration procedures; supervise staff and perform other appropriate related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a related field; OR an Associates degree in a related field and two years of general office secretarial or administrative experience; OR four years of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least three years of experience with the registration and filing of birth death and/or marriage records. Experience in electronic systems and databases. Experience with conducting presentations and/or training seminars in front of large groups. Supervisory experience.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting grant deliverables and contract deliverables is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel 10% of the time will be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York New Jersey Connecticut Vermont or Massachusetts prior to hire. Telecommuting will not be available.
