The Assistant Farm Manager works under the direction of the Facilities Director and instructional leadershipsupporting the day-to-day operations of the schools land and animal enterprises. This hands-on position plays akey role in maintaining a safe functional and educational agricultural environment in collaboration with theFacilities Director instructional staff Farm Staff and Animal Science Department. Responsibilities includesupporting animal and farm care maintaining equipment and facilities and coordinating activities to enhancestudent learning in the Agricultural Education Program. The Assistant Farm Manager also helps supervise studentand staff workers ensuring safety and adherence to procedures. Performs all other related duties as assigned tosupport the farms operation and educational mission. This position does not serve as the primary decision-makerand functions under the direction of the Facilities Responsibilities (under the direction of the Facilities Director):Assist in coordinating farm operations serving as a key point of contact to support the smooth execution of agricultural general farm duties including the care of animals and plants/crops and conduct routine maintenance of farm equipment and daily animal care including feeding sanitation grooming and safe handling in accordance with established and document animal health administer medications as directed and maintain up-to-date vaccination and treatment animal reproduction processes including heat detection artificial/natural breeding and provide assistance during birthing and post-birthing as and oversee employees and student workers in safe farm procedures proper animal handling and daily operational with instructional staff to support hands-on learning experiences and assist with farm-based educational farm tours and educational demonstrations for students 4-H and FFA groups and members of the with the development and implementation of animal care and feeding plans under the supervision of the Facilities Director and in collaboration with Animal Science veterinary visits and outside animal care services and align them with student learning activities when accurate and timely documentation of animal health and welfare in the schools shared digital under the direction of the Facilities Director the maintenance and repair of farm vehicles machinery and the Facilities Director in managing the farms operational budget and ordering supplies and equipment in accordance with school regular updates to the Facilities Director regarding ongoing projects operational issues and emergency with the Animal Science Department to align animal care activities with instructional objectives and support student learning in scheduling Farm Technicians and Animal Care Technicians to ensure proper staffing coverage for daily operations and student coordinate the placement rotation and housing of animals in collaboration with school personnel maintaining both instructional and welfare student workers during off-school hours providing guidance during farm work assignments as Response Responsibilities:Respond promptly to farm-related emergencies including animal injuries or illnesses equipment malfunctions fire hazards and weather-related first-response animal care or secure veterinary support following school immediate safety measures to protect students staff and animals in the event of hazardous situations (e.g. animal escapes equipment failure power outages).Notify the Facilities Director instructional staff or emergency personnel according to established emergency that emergency equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers first aid kits spill kits) is functional accessible and routinely with documentation following incidents and support any necessary reports or in emergency drills and contribute feedback for improving the farms emergency protocols and safety Responsibilities:Assist the Facilities Director in training Farm and Animal Care Technicians in the safe use of tools and develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to farm and facilities other related duties as assigned to support the operation of the school farm and its educational programs.
