Grain Superintendent- Ama LAJob Summary:The Grain Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily grain handling storage and facility export operations ensuring efficient safe and high-quality production. This role includes management of barge unloading blending drying bin logistics and vessel coordination. The Grain Superintendent supervises control room operators facility teams and works with external stakeholders to execute production plans ensure compliance and maintain a strong safety culture. Flexibility is required to support operational needs during the week on-calls and occasional weekend work.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Operational Oversight:- Develop and implement the daily production plan including inbound/outbound logistics barge unloading binning blending drying and vessel coordination.
- Supervise and collaborate with Control Room Operators to maximize grain movement efficiency and grain quality.
- Oversee facility operations to maintain commodity quality including specialty grain and by-product handling.
- Ensure proper blending to meet grade targets and customer requirements.
- Monitor barge scheduling and age to reduce demurrage and support timely dispatch of vessels.
- Ensure proper vessel coverage with the correct quantity and quality stocks.
- Track and report comparisons of origin vs. destination grain grades.
- Communicate effectively with FGIS ADM Logistics TSI and Facility Superintendents on operational updates and production performance.
- Create shift reports documenting defects production updates and other relevant information.
- Support and verify that Shift Superintendents and Unloading Supervisors follow production plans and operate efficiently.
- Ensure all sampling and documentation is completed in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Manage elevator space to minimize broken bins and maximize operational productivity.
Facility Support & Safety Duties:- Promote a strong safety culture by engaging with operators and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in safety meetings Safety Council activities and conduct safety audits.
- Assist with the issuance of permits for contractors to ensure timely startup and work execution.
- Provide hands-on support in facility operations or maintenance including issue resolution and equipment troubleshooting.
- Serve as a liaison between facility management and floor operations offering direction and assistance as needed.
- Assist in training new and current team members on inbound outbound and lab operations and policies.
- Coordinate facility superintendents in addressing maintenance needs or challenges during shifts.
Grain Quality & Inventory Management:- Understand and follow all aspects of the facility Quality Manual and Binning Plan. Keep facility plans up to date.
- Maintain specifications for Grain Lab. Ensure tests are ordered calibrations are complete tests and records are adequate.
- Ensure facility is meeting standards set forth in operational permits including the Air Permit.
- Schedule and coordinate bin cleaning crews in collaboration with outside foremen.
- Optimize commodity blends to maximize value and maintain grade quality on outgoing vessels.
- Communicate grain quality issues or bin cleaning needs clearly to facility teams.
Qualifications:- 35 years of experience in export grain elevator operations.
- Deep understanding of grain grading logistics and facility processes including barge and vessel handling.
- Strong leadership and communication skills for team coordination and external relations.
- Proactive safety mindset and familiarity with safety regulations and auditing procedures.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes regular weekdays and some weekends as needed.
- Proficiency with operational software systems Microsoft Office and production planning tools.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
