The Department of Parks Recreation & Culture takes pride in the quality and variety of programs services events and activities it provides to the community and seeks passionate and dedicated individuals who can contribute to this well-deserved reputation. The Cultural Events & Services (CES) Division has two immediate openings for experienced Program Supervisors to plan organize execute supervise oversee and evaluate a variety of diverse community events programs and activities such as festivals (including signature City events such as the Gaithersburg Book Festival Oktoberfest SummerFest and Winter Lights Festival) parades concerts themed events commemorative ceremonies and similar activities that meet community needs and promote the well-being of residents and visitors. To be successful in the Program Supervisor position you must thrive on working collaboratively with others in order to contribute to an effective team and create a positive and productive work environment. Must have excellent communication (verbal and written) organizational and time staff and resource management skills as well as demonstrated skill in analytical review/evaluation of program success and developing and managing program budgets. You must be able to work evenings and weekends as part of your core work schedule to meet program needs and be able to take on a variety of responsibilities juggle multiple tasks meet deadlines in high pressure situations and work effectively on independent projects and cooperatively as part of the team. Customer service inside and outside the organization must be a top priority with special emphasis on the delivery of quality events and programs to the public.
Ideal candidates will be experienced creative and resourceful event professionals who will bring a fresh perspective to existing events and programs while developing and launching new opportunities. Must be experienced in planning scheduling implementing and supervising a wide variety of programming including experience coordinating event logistics securing vendors reviewing and selecting musical entertainment and other performers and developing marketing strategies and materials; and must have a proven track record in using creative and innovative approaches and ideas to successfully deliver optimize participation in and promote community events.
Starting salary for this position is negotiable within the anticipated target hiring range ($68000 - $73000) and will be offered at a level consistent with the relevant experience and qualifications of the candidate.
