Notre Dame High School San Jose is the center for womens leadership in Silicon Valley and has provided an exceptional Catholic college preparatory education for young women since 1851. The Social Studies Program
Notre Dame High School has a college preparatory social studies curriculum with a strong Advanced Placement and Honors program. In addition to exposing students to rich content the department strives to instill students with critical thinking writing close reading problem-solving and collaborative skills. The department strives to create graduates who are informed engaged community members passionate about learning. This program is part of an integrated curricular design developed among the English Religious Studies and Social Studies departments.
Responsibilities:
- Teach high school social studies courses with specific interest and skills in Ethnic Studies and/or AP courses
- Align instruction with department outcomes and graduation outcomes
- Be familiar with educational research and current literature in academic area
- Collaborate with colleagues both within department and across the curriculum
- Create and implement lesson plans
- Create and conduct appropriate student assessment regularly
- Supports the mission of the school and the Hallmarks of a Notre Dame de Namur Learning Community
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in history political science or other related field; Masters Degree preferred
- Current teaching credential
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three to five years of high school teaching experience
- Experience with common core standards
- Demonstrated leadership capacity
- Familiarity with advanced placement curriculum
