Summary of Job Duties:

The Equal Opportunity and Title IX Investigator supports the institutions commitment to fostering a fair and safe educational and workplace environment. This position is responsible for conducting impartial and thorough investigations into allegations of discrimination harassment sexual misconduct and related policy violations. The Investigator ensures compliance with federal state and institutional regulations including Title IX Title VI Title VII ADA and related laws while contributing to prevention and education efforts.

Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. law human resources education social sciences psychology)

Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.

  • At least two years of experience conducting investigations in a compliance regulatory or civil rights setting including Title IX or similar fields

  • Strong knowledge of Title IX Title VII ADA and related laws as evidence by application materials

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality as evidenced by application materials

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by application materials

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g. Juris Doctor Masters in law human resources education social sciences psychology or related field)

  • Three or more years of experience conducting investigations into discrimination harassment or other civil rights violations preferably involving protected class status

  • Certification in investigations or compliance (e.g. ATIXA SHRM HRCI or similar)

  • Experience working in higher education or a similar institutional setting

  • Experience conducting investigations while maintaining procedural neutrality

  • Experience using case management software

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal laws regulations and guidance important to postsecondary education to include but not limited to Title IX Title VI Title VII ADA Clery VAWA FERPA

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed investigative techniques

  • Excellent investigative research analytical oral communication and writing skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

  • Ability to grasp complex issues rapidly and accurately

  • Ability to establish rapport and work cooperatively with various levels of faculty staff students and outside agencies

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively to meet sensitive deadlines

  • Ability to be resilient flexible and creative in approaching complex problems and maintaining confidential information

  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office Adobe and similar software
