Job Description

Job Title: Director of Nursing Post Care Cardiac and Acute Stroke
Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
Employment Type: Full-Time Exempt
Shift: Day 24/7 Leadership Accountability

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing Post Care Cardiac and Acute Stroke provides strategic and operational leadership for designated patient care areas with a specific focus on Cardiac Post Care and Acute Stroke Services. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) this position plays a critical role in aligning nursing practice with hospital goals ensuring excellence in clinical care staff development and resource management.

The Director assumes 24/7 accountability for the performance and management of assigned units fostering a culture of safety compassion innovation and collaboration. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for a forward-thinking results-oriented nurse leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the CNO in the execution of hospital-wide strategic initiatives related to nursing and patient care services.
  • Lead the planning implementation evaluation and continuous improvement of nursing care delivery for Post Cardiac and Acute Stroke units.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance high-quality care standards and alignment with best practices in stroke and cardiac care.
  • Mentor and support nursing managers and staff; foster a culture of accountability engagement and professional growth.
  • Drive quality and patient safety initiatives and lead efforts to achieve top-tier patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to streamline processes enhance patient experience and improve resource utilization.
  • Oversee budgeting staffing and resource planning for assigned departments.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a Bachelors degree in a healthcare-related field or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Masters degree in a healthcare-related field.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum 2 years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting such as Nurse Manager or full-time Charge Nurse.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of practice (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (required).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (required).

Skills & Attributes

  • Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Expertise in stroke and cardiac care protocols preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operations and lead performance improvement efforts.
  • Strong clinical judgment and a commitment to nursing excellence.
