We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Perioperative Services to oversee the comprehensive operations of surgical services within our hospital. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and indirectly to the Administrative Director of Perioperative Services for the market this leader is responsible for strategic planning clinical excellence operational efficiency and quality outcomes across the perioperative continuum.
This leadership role will champion collaboration and drive improvements across surgical nursing operations supporting strategic initiatives such as equipment standardization capital planning staff recruitment and retention process optimization and regulatory readiness. The Director will lead a team of clinical professionals with oversight of hiring staff development and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage all functions of Perioperative Services including the OR Pre-Op PACU and Sterile Processing.
Develop and implement department goals aligned with hospital-wide strategies.
Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission state and federal regulations and internal policies.
Oversee budgets staffing scheduling and workflow optimization.
Evaluate and improve processes for surgical services using Lean and evidence-based practices.
Drive standardization of equipment procedures and policies in collaboration with market leadership.
Manage and mentor perioperative nursing staff to promote high-quality care and professional growth.
Coordinate internal audits surveys and accreditations including readiness for Joint Commission evaluations.
Participate in long-range planning and hospital-wide initiatives that enhance operational and patient care outcomes.
Support supplier diversity and compliance with organizational DEI objectives.
Bachelors degree in Nursing required (a second degree in Business Healthcare Administration or related field preferred).
Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan required.
Minimum 7 years of progressive clinical experience in perioperative nursing with a mix of direct patient care and leadership responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience managing clinical operations staff development regulatory compliance and process improvement.
Leadership & Strategic Thinking: Ability to drive change inspire teams and lead through influence.
Analytical Problem Solving: Capable of identifying root causes evaluating risks and implementing creative and sustainable solutions.
Exceptional Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills including conflict resolution negotiation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Project & Budget Management: Expertise in managing complex projects and department budgets within a healthcare setting.
Clinical Knowledge: Broad understanding of surgical care delivery models patient safety infection control and staffing standards.
