Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Manager or VP of Patient & Clinical Services the Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in the Operating Room team providing safe high-quality surgical care. This role includes maintaining a sterile surgical environment assisting with procedures and mentoring other team members in proper surgical techniques. The Surgical Technologist upholds the core values and philosophy of our founding Dominican Sisters and the Standards of Conduct of Mount Carmel Hospital.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment in accordance with hospital protocol.
Assist surgeons and other team members during procedures with instruments supplies and techniques.
Ensure all surgical tools and equipment are sterilized and properly set up before each operation.
Collaborate with and educate fellow surgical team members on proper techniques and safety standards.
Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and ensure patient-centered care.
Demonstrate commitment to the organizations mission values and service standards.
Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent education/experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association upon hire.
Sufficient prior experience to perform essential job functions confidently and independently.
Recent graduation from a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) training program.
Previous experience as an OR Technician.
Training or experience in Central Service.
Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) certification upon hire is highly preferred.
Experience with Central Sterile Processing.
