Job Summary:
This role is for a Certified Surgical Technologist working in a tertiary care hospitals operating room. The position requires proficiency in surgical techniques and adherence to strict sterile procedures. The successful candidate will assist surgeons during surgical procedures preparing instruments maintaining a sterile field and ensuring the safety of the patient. Travel is required and local candidates within 75 miles are not considered. NBSTSA certification is required unless the traveler has worked as a surgical technologist in NY before 2015. First-time travelers and travel pairs (with different schedules) are acceptable.
Location: Rochester New York United States
Responsibilities:
- Preparing the operating room and ensuring a sterile environment.
- Assisting the surgical team with instrument handling and maintaining the sterile field.
- Preparing and managing surgical equipment and supplies.
- Assisting with patient draping and positioning.
- Performing surgical counts to prevent retained surgical items.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Adhering to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Collaborating effectively with the surgical team.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Current NBSTSA certification (unless worked as a surgical tech in NY before 2015).
- Knowledge of surgical techniques and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a sterile environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a tertiary care hospital setting.
- Experience with specific surgical specialties.
Special Considerations:
- Travel required; local candidates (within 75 miles) not considered.

- Work schedule: 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM.
- Hospital uses Epic charting.
- Scrub attire: Navy or white top and navy bottoms.
Scheduling:
- 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM shift.
