Job Description

2. Job Title

Senior Engineer F&M (Mechanical)

3. Key Roles

The Senior Engineer Facility & Maintenance (Mechanical) will be responsible for managing the mechanical upkeep of all assets utilities critical infrastructure and support systems within the plant. The role will focus on maintaining high equipment reliability minimizing breakdowns and ensuring safe and efficient operations of mechanical assets including HVAC systems air compressors chillers material handling systems and other facility support equipment.

4. Main Responsibility & Objectives

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Utility & Equipment Maintenance

  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of E2E installed assets HVAC systems air compressors chillers cooling towers and process water systems etc.
  • Oversee the maintenance and performance of ETP/STP fire-fighting systems and compressed air lines.
  • Ensure the upkeep of plant material handling systems like hoists elevators trolleys and conveyors.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Prepare and implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all mechanical systems and utilities.
  • Monitor equipment health using predictive techniques (vibration analysis oil analysis etc.).
  • Analyze recurring mechanical issues and implement long-term corrective actions.

Facility Infrastructure Management

  • Manage mechanical systems involved in plant infrastructure including building utilities plumbing pumps and ventilation systems.
  • Support the upkeep of roof exhausts ducts mechanical lifts cranes and facility piping.

Breakdown Support & Troubleshooting

  • Respond to emergency mechanical breakdowns identify root causes and ensure fast resolution with minimum downtime.
  • Collaborate with production automation and electrical teams to coordinate shutdowns and restore operations effectively.

Project & Expansion Support

  • Participate in the design installation and commissioning of mechanical utilities during plant expansion or infrastructure upgrade projects.
  • Assist in layout planning for mechanical systems in new factory areas.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all mechanical operations comply with health safety and environmental standards (HSE).
  • Support safety audits statutory inspections and machine safety validations.
  • Maintain documentation for compliance with state and local regulatory bodies.

Vendor & AMC Management

  • Liaise with vendors and service providers for AMCs spares and utilities maintenance contracts.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and coordinate timely servicing and availability of critical spare parts.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain records of maintenance logs PM reports utility consumption data and statutory compliance records.
  • Provide periodic reports on maintenance KPIs such as MTTR MTBF downtime % and cost of maintenance.

5. Qualification/ Experience/ Skills

Education Qualifications:

  • B.E./ in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certifications in HVAC/Utility Maintenance or Facility Management (Added advantage).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 9 years of experience in mechanical domain core maintenance.
  • Proven expertise in managing assets and utility in FMCG/automotive or high-speed manufacturing setups.

Technical Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of industrial mechanical systems and utilities.
  • Proficiency in PM techniques and troubleshooting mechanical failures.
  • Ability to read mechanical layouts and piping diagrams.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems utility distribution (steam compressed air chilled water etc.) and fire-fighting equipment.
  • Good knowledge of TPM Lean Maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Involves physical inspection of systems and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills planning ability and vendor coordination.
