Job Description
Position Overview:
Wellan Montessori School is seeking an experienced Physical Education Specialist to oversee all aspects of operation in the physical education classroom including teaching weekly physical education classes to students in first through eighth grade. This position is full time and will begin August 21 2025. Responsibilities include: planning and implementing curriculum and activities and working with classroom teachers to ensure that educational standards are met consistently. The P.E. Specialist also runs several after school sports programs and is responsible for supporting the Director of Auxiliary Programs and the Specials Division Leader in carrying out P.E. and athletics initiatives goals and mission.
Successful candidates will be patient well organized flexible professional and dependable; have strong classroom management skills; have strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to function in a cooperative teaching environment; and be able to collaborate with other educators in our community to create an environment where children learn socialize explore and grow together. Experience teaching Physical Education and working in a Montessori classroom is strongly preferred.
Position Details:
- 40 hours per week with attendance at staff meetings and occasional night / weekend events outside of regular hours required.
- Regular Hours: Generally Monday Friday 9 AM 5 PM with additional hours on game days
- Reports to: Specials Division Leader (primary) & Director of Aux. Programs (secondary)
Job Requirements:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Experience working with young children required.
- Experience working in a Montessori environment preferred.
- Experience teaching Physical Education preferred.
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Letter of interest/cover letter resume and at least two references are required to be considered for this position.
