Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Locksmith is responsible for installing and maintaining all physical locking systems in all the buildings in various campuses throughout the system and maintaining a preventive maintenance program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Replace all types of locking systems with originally installed components converts the hardware to a standard locking system.
Install and maintain commonly used door hardware.
Operate key cutting machinery including computer operated automatic manual and punch ones.
Re-pin removable lock cores for single and master keys operation.
Implement schedule of locks to be re-keyed that are currently in use at buildings throughout the Colleges.
Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Troubleshoot locking problems including all door and entrance hardware.
Clean maintain and repair shop tools and equipment.
Lift 50 lbs.
and climb a ladder.
May be required to travel between various HCC locations.
Perform other duties tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- 2 years education or training in HVAC Mechanical Control Systems or formal craft/trade preferred
- 18 months experience in building maintenance required including 6 months in lock repair
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
