PL/SQL Developer (Database Optimization, Cloud & Automation Experience)

Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced PL SQL Developer to design develop and maintain robust database solutions. In this role you will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient SQL-based solutions. Your expertise will help optimize data processes support application development and ensure data integrity and security contributing to the organizations strategic objectives in data management and analytics.

Software Requirements

• Required Software Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in PL/SQL with experience in writing tuning and optimizing complex SQL queries and procedures
  • Familiarity with related database technologies such as Oracle MySQL or SQL Server
  • Experience with version control tools like Git or SVN
  • Knowledge of development and collaboration tools such as JIRA Confluence and SQL Developer or Toad
• Preferred Software Skills:
  • Exposure to cloud-based database services (e.g. Oracle Cloud AWS RDS)
  • Knowledge of automation and scripting tools (Python Shell scripting)

Overall Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and develop efficient data solutions.
• Design develop and optimize PL/SQL scripts procedures functions and packages to support business needs.
• Maintain and improve existing database systems ensuring high performance and data integrity.
• Participate in code reviews system testing and deployment activities to ensure quality standards.
• Monitor database performance troubleshoot issues and implement improvements.
• Stay current with emerging database technologies and recommend enhancements to existing solutions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members during project execution.
• Document technical specifications processes and solutions to ensure maintainability.

Technical Skills (By Category)

• Programming Languages:
  • Essential: PL/SQL (required)
  • Preferred: SQL tuning Java Python (for scripting and automation)
• Databases/Data Management:
  • Essential: Oracle Database (preferred version 11g or later) MySQL SQL Server
  • Preferred: NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB) for integration with broader data solutions
• Cloud Technologies:
  • Preferred: Cloud database services such as Oracle Cloud AWS RDS
• Frameworks and Libraries:
  • Use of Oracle APEX SQL*Plus or similar tools for database development and management

Experience Requirements

• Typically 4 years of professional experience in database development with a focus on PL/SQL and related technologies.
• Proven experience in designing tuning and maintaining large-scale database systems.
• Experience working within Agile teams and participating in code reviews.
• Industry experience in finance healthcare or technology sectors is advantageous.
• Alternative qualifications include certifications like Oracle PL/SQL Developer or Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Develop and optimize SQL queries stored procedures packages and functions based on business requirements.
• Collaborate with business analysts developers and testers to design data solutions aligned with project goals.
• Participate in daily stand-ups sprint planning and review meetings.
• Conduct performance tuning and troubleshoot database issues.
• Assist in testing deployment and documentation of database updates.
• Monitor database health and security implementing necessary improvements.
• Stay informed of advancements in database management and suggest technological enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Relevant certifications in Oracle PL/SQL or database management are preferred.
• Training or experience in cloud database environments is a plus.
• Commitment to ongoing development of technical skills and industry knowledge.
