Primary Purpose:
Provide behavioral support services to behavior teachers and students on the assigned campus(es). Promotes quality and compliance of programs and services to improve student achievement. May provide direct social skills instruction to students on the assigned campus(es).
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
OR
Bachelors degree
Certification in positive behavior strategies and/or behavior management
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of child development
Ability to work effectively with students and manage their behavior
Ability to effectively present information to students teachers and other staff
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work well with others
Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
Three years experience using positive behavior strategies and/or behavior management
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Comply with all federal and state laws district and campus guidelines regulations routines and operating procedures.
- Assist in the enforcement of rules expectations consequences and operating procedures through collaborative means with other campus personnel.
- Effectively communicate the rules expectations consequences and operating procedures to students.
- Employ effective strategies to promote student compliance with rules expectations and operating procedures.
- Consult with principals and other campus administrators who oversee the provision of instructional services at their schools.
- Assist the behavior classroom teacher in the managerial organizational and behavior management of the classroom.
- Provide interventions that focus on improved student behavior.
- Observe document and interpret behavior data within the classroom and prepare reports for appropriate personnel.
- Participate in parent conferences faculty and staff meetings and professional development opportunities supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices.
- Suggest behavioral intervention methods to other campus personnel.
- Implement approved behavioral intervention strategies.
- Pursue professional development activities that align with district goals and initiatives and current professional research.
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with students co-workers supervisor district personnel community members volunteers and district partners.
- Effectively communicate with supervisor colleagues district personnel students and parents.
- Assist with district accountability and activities.
- Review behavior programs make recommendations and assist in implementation of district behavior and discipline initiatives.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers; ensure that all interactions are supportive courteous and respectful.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.
- Ensure confidentiality regarding all district-related matters.
- Complies with district policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Adhere to the districts safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
