Technical Skills for a Data Architect/DBA :

  1. Database Management Systems:

Oracle:Expertise in Oracle Database management including installation configuration and performance tuning. Knowledge of PL/SQL for stored procedures triggers and complex query optimization. Amazon Redshift:Proficient in managing Redshift clusters data warehousing concepts query optimization and using Redshift Spectrum for querying data in S3.
Google BigQuery:Experience with BigQuery features including table partitioning clustering and using SQL for large-scale data analytics.

  1. Data Modeling and Design:

Proficient in data modeling techniques (ER modeling dimensional modeling) to create efficient and scalable database architectures. Understanding of normalization and denormalization strategies for different use cases.

  1. ETL and Data Integration:

Experience with ETL tools (e.g. Apache NiFi Talend Informatica) to design and implement data pipelines for data ingestion and transformation across multiple sources and of data integration techniques and best practices for real-time and batch processing.

  1. SQL and Query Optimization:

Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data in Oracle Redshift and BigQuery.

Ability to perform query optimization and tuning for improved performance and resource utilization.

  1. Cloud Platforms:

Familiarity with cloud services and architectures especially those related to Oracle Cloud AWS (Amazon Web Services) for Redshift

and Google Cloud Platform for BigQuery.

Experience with data migration strategies to move data between on-premises and cloud databases.

  1. Data Governance and Security:

Understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance regulations (e.g. GDPR HIPAA).Knowledge of security best practices including user access management encryption and auditing in Oracle Redshift and BigQuery.

  1. Performance Monitoring and Tuning:

Experience using monitoring tools and log analysis to track database performance and troubleshoot issues (e.g. Oracle Enterprise Manager AWS CloudWatch for Redshift BigQuery query execution plans). Skills in database backups recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.

  1. Programming and Scripting:

Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Java for automation and integration tasks. Ability to write scripts for database migrations backups and routine maintenance tasks.

  1. Data Warehousing Concepts:

Understanding of data warehousing principles including star and snowflake schemas data marts and OLAP vs. OLTP of analytical tools and BI integrations related to Oracle Redshift and BigQuery.

  1. Version Control and Collaboration Tools:

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git) for managing database schema changes and team collaboration. Use of documentation tools to create and maintain architecture diagrams and technical documentation.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills are essential for collaborating with stakeholders and effectively presenting technical information
