Job Summary
The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate Newborn Family Why This Role Is Important As part of the obstetrical and pediatric service Blake 13 cares for Postpartum women. The unit also has a nursery for newborns that meet level I or level II criteria as determined by DPH regulation and medical evaluation. The patient care delivery model is Family Centered Care with an emphasis on moms and babies rooming in together to enhance the bonding experience. The staff is committed to providing highly skilled high quality family centered care to the newborn babies and families. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs monitoring & reading vital signs drawing blood and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner safeguarding patient confidentiality monitoring patient safety and always communicating in a respectful manner.
