Assistant Director Finance

Join the Business Services Leadership Team of two of Queenslands leading independent schools in the role of Assistant Director Finance.

St Margarets Anglican Girls School and St Aidans Anglican Girls School are two of Queenslands leading independent schools fostering in students confidence compassion academic excellence and a lifelong love of learning. St Margarets and St Aidans Anglican Girls Schools have a shared services model for key business functions. The purpose of the shared services model is to provide the Schools with high quality business and customer service whilst ensuring continuous delivery and effective and efficient use of resources.

The Role

The Assistant Director - Finance is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the operational finance functions across the shared services business function of St Margarets and St Aidans Anglican Girls Schools. This position combines strategic financial management with hands-on operational excellence driving business improvement initiatives whilst ensuring robust financial governance and compliance.

Some key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing effective financial operations management by leading the day-to-day financial operations across the two schools and ensuring a high standard of financial management.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency gains across finance functions systems policies and procedures.
  • Providing strategic financial support analysis and insights to the senior leadership team.
  • Preparing comprehensive financial reports for Board meetings.
  • Leading and developing the finance team across both campuses providing mentoring and professional development opportunities.
  • Providing strong stakeholder management across the two schools.

About You

The role requires a dynamic finance professional who can bridge strategic vision with practical implementation supporting the schools educational mission through sound financial stewardship.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in a similar role preferably in education not-for-profit or similar service-orientated sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial management systems.
  • A proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and change management.

This is a full-time role working equally across both St Margarets Anglican Girls School in Ascot and St Aidans Anglican Girls School in Corinda.
