REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer SEASONAL OR NON-SEASONAL: Non-Seasonal Benefited FLSA STATUS: Salaried / Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: The Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for managing maintaining and troubleshooting all aspects of the zoos IT infrastructure. This includes daily support and maintenance of network components such as IP phones cameras wireless access points user workstations and point-of-sale (POS) systems. The IT Specialist also coordinates alarm systems and serves as the first point of contact for helpdesk support for zoo employees. The role supports planning discussions related to future IT needs and ensures accurate documentation of systems and procedures.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: - Associates or Bachelors Degree in a technology-related field.
- Must be 18 with a valid drivers license.
- Wide experience with network management including hardware and software.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan organize and handle multiple tasks as necessary.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS: - IT Certifications: CCNA CompTIA N CompTIA A.
- Familiarity with Cisco and Ubiquiti network equipment.
- Basic programming knowledge (e.g. Python PHP) and familiarity with SQL.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Experience managing cloud-based services (e.g. Microsoft 365 Azure).
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and basic risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Experience with remote management tools and solutions.
- Basic understanding of AV (audio/visual) systems and setup.
- Ability to create and maintain detailed IT documentation.
- Comfort working with non-technical users and providing clear helpful training or support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Manage daily operations of the network and server infrastructure including fiber optics cameras POS and IP phone systems.
- Test troubleshoot and adjust information systems to ensure reliable operation.
- Provide first-line helpdesk support to zoo staff for hardware software and connectivity issues.
- Maintain and support the zoos point-of-sale systems.
- Coordinate the zoos alarm systems in partnership with external vendors.
- Ensure IT activities comply with applicable laws regulations and internal policies.
- Assist with aligning IT systems and infrastructure with the zoos evolving operational needs.
- Provide input on technology purchases and participate in budgeting discussions.
- Become familiar with the zoos WordPress website and its online registration components.
- Document the zoos IT infrastructure procedures and recovery steps.
- Collaborate positively with diverse groups including guests staff and volunteers.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Comply with all Binder Park Zoo policies and procedures.
- Participate in team-oriented zoo projects as needed.

- Ability to read speak and write English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way.
