PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Band Director - Assistant shall assist in directing the instructional program for all band students and assists in the coordinating of campus band activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements - All Level or Secondary Music education
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of subject(s) to which assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
- Public-school music teaching experience
- Instrumental music experience preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Provide instruction in the band program
- Coordinate the instructional process for band students in concert/marching/jazz theory appreciation/history classes
- Maintain accurate band inventory budget maintenance and general operation of all activities
- Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students
- Actively coordinate the efforts of the band booster organization
- Coordinate campus band activities with campus programs staff and community
- Prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events
- Actively participate in professional organizations which foster and support music education
- Participate in the professional development of personal teaching competencies
- Participate in professional organizations which foster and support music education
- Communicates expectations and program goals to students faculty parents community and booster club members
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educators Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of this position; however the supervision of students is required. Direct the work of instructional aide(s).
