For more than 150 years the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has been a leader in educating the worlds most influential artists designers and scholars. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Situated in the Office of the Dean the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at SAIC supports all studio and academic departments and programs. The CTL partners with divisional deans and functional units to bring its initiatives and events to life including the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion the Wellness Center the Disability and Learning Resource Center and Computer Resources and Information Technologies. Collaborative relationships with campus partners enable the CTL to develop and implement faculty-centered resources that model SAICs long-standing commitment to art and design education.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Inclusive Pedagogy Specialist will collaborate with faculty and staff to support artist-educators at all stages of their careers. They will enrich the CTLs existing work by: (1) building community through shared activities and programs; (2) developing resources that advance accessible inclusive equitable and culturally competent teaching practices for both in-person and online instruction; and (3) conducting and sharing research about teaching and learning within an art and design context. The Inclusive Pedagogy Specialist models the CTLs commitment to critical reflective and embodied pedagogical practices. This work requires a candidate who centers disability justice and cultural humility.
