Job Summary:

Location: Methodist Hospital
Address: 8303 Dodge St. - Omaha NE

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 2pm to 10:30pm with one weekend per month

Leads and motivates assigned staff in the Patient Transportation Department which provides transportation of patients and equipment throughout Methodist Hospital.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

1. Help ensure Patient Escort staff meets quality and productivity quotas.

  • Perform productivity and quality of service audits for assigned staff.
  • Identify needed training or improvement needs based on results.
  • Maintain staff productivity for work completion quotas and times.

2. Conduct orientation and in-service training on Patient Escort duties procedures and equipment.

  • Orientation and skills checklists for new hires completed accurately and timely.
  • Annual in-service training conducted and documented.
  • Staff retrained as needed due to performance issues new equipment or products.

3. Maintain department equipment properly reports needed maintenance promptly.

  • Equipment repairs due to normal wear and tear not abuse or neglect.
  • Defective equipment removed from service and reported for maintenance.

4. Provides correct and adequate tools and supplies to staff; ensures staff works safely.

  • Ensures staff have and use the right tools for the right job.
  • Ensures staff comply with safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Ensures staff use and maintain equipment properly and safely.

5. Assists department manager in developing and adjusting staffing.

  • Helps monitor the schedule and overtime needs.
  • Assists in monitoring attendance on a daily basis.
  • Adjusts to short staffing appropriately to get necessary work completed on shift.

6. Provides feedback on each member of Patient Escorts to assist with performance evaluations corrective actions and commended actions.

  • Provides input into performance evaluations through quality and productivity data documentation.
  • Advise manager promptly if areas to be Commended or Corrected in Attendance Job Performance or Conduct.

7. Rotates shift as needed.

8. Models Safety and Infection Control guidelines.

  • Adheres to and supports all Safety and Infection Control guidelines.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D) required


Experience

  • Two or more years of patient escort experience required.


License/Certifications

  • N/A


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Verbal communication abilities for positive interaction with staff and customers required.
  • Able to read write and comprehend various written reports and documents.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Computer literacy strongly preferred.
