Description
The San Diego Unified School District is recruiting for the position ofBus Dispatcher.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Bus Dispatcherwill assign and dispatch buses and lead the work of all school bus drivers and monitors.
There is currently one (1) position available:- Working location is based out of the Pupil Transportation Department - 4710 Cardin Street San Diego CA 92111
- Scheduled for 40 hours per week 11 months per year
- Qualifies for District Paid health and wellness benefits for employee and dependents
This is apromotional/open opportunitywhich means that current monthly-salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list.
- For a promotional/open posting the top ten internal applicants will be provided unless there is an insufficient number and then the list will be supplemented with the top external applicants to make up the ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article 2 Section 9).

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to: two years of recent full-time experience as an Extraboard Bus Driver School Bus Driver or any combination thereof.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California Class A or B drivers license with passenger endorsement.
Possession of a California Special Drivers Certificate for School Buses with valid first aid certificate if required.
Possession of a valid D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) approved medical certificate. (Any moving citations or chargeable accidents in the applicants driving history within 37 calendar months prior to the application date will be evaluated and may be considered disqualifying.)
Personality and character traits suited to supervision and care of children of multiple ethnicities and cultural values behavioral and physical handicaps.
NOTE:Safety-sensitive job class. Employees in this job class will be subject to random selection for alcohol or controlled substance testing.Supplemental Information
EXAMINATION PROCESS:

- Please note that general or occasional Substitute Experience is not included when determining if a candidate has met the minimum qualifications for the position.
- Individuals working in related specific LONG-TERM substitute assignments of substantial hours per week must specify each separate long-term assignment in their work history in order for this experience to POSSIBLY count towards meeting the minimum qualifications.
- This information must include an approximate start date end date (where applicable) specific site job title hours per week and job duties performed for each long-term assignment.
- Answer all supplemental questions:
- The supplemental questions should be answered thoroughly clearly and concisely as the responses provided (along with the entire application package) will be carefully reviewed to determine which candidates will move forward in the recruitment process.
- Attach proof of education training certification or licenses:

- Valid CA Class A or B drivers license with passenger endorsement
- Valid CA Special Driver Certificate for School Buses
- Valid Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) approved medical certificate
- A safe driving record for the last 3 years (Proof of safe driving record - California DMV Report obtained in the last 90 days).
- Education training or certifications will only be considered if acceptable documentation is attached
- Photocopy of Degree or
- Photocopy of OFFICIAL transcript
- Photocopy of Licenses and/or Certifications
