Job Type:
Contract (1099) Part-Time As-Needed
Pay: $50$75/hour (DOE)
Role Summary:
Were hiring a Chicago-based Employment Attorney or HR Legal Consultant to join our growing team on a flexible project-based contract. You will be our go-to legal expert for the market supporting a region rich in behavioral health innovation Medicaid-funded services and human-centered clinics.
Youll work mostly remotely and step in only when needed with full autonomy. This is an ideal opportunity for a solo attorney boutique firm partner or HR-versed legal consultant looking to make an impact in a mission-driven high-growth firm.
Responsibilities:

Review and draft policies contracts handbooks and compliance SOPs

Advise on employee investigations performance plans and risk mitigation

Guide legal decisions involving FLSA ADA EEOC FMLA contractor classification and Chicago-specific laws

Draft and review legal documents (NDAs non-competes severance arbitration agreements)

Join high-level internal or client meetings when legal expertise is required

Monitor labor law changes in the area and advise leadership accordingly
Requirements:

JD and active law license in Illinois

5 years of employment law experience preferably supporting small businesses healthcare or nonprofits

Familiarity with Medicaid behavioral health providers or trauma-informed HR a plus

Must be comfortable operating independently as a 1099 contractor
Compensation & Perks:

$50 to $75/hour depending on experience and engagement scope
