Job Description

POSITION: Instructional Healthcare Facilitator - CNA

LOCATION: District Wide As Assigned

REPORTS TO: Principal or Designee

JOB GOAL:

  • To assist the Principal in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the district schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications to perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required to be successful:

  • Valid Arizona CNA license required
  • Two years of nursing experience required
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must be able to move about campus in case of emergencies; may have to do some lifting and transporting of students
  • Must have the ability to work independently and make sound judgments and decisions in a wide variety of situations under pressure

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Adapts classroom activities assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
  • Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional (e.g. diapering tube feeding colostomy bags medication etc.) for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs and/or developing childrens daily living activities and behavioral skills.
  • Assists students with mobility concerns (e.g. wheelchair transfers bus loading and unloading etc.) for the purpose of meeting immediate needs.
  • Attends meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. first aid CPR emergency procedures etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Collaborates with the nurse for the purpose of promoting and/or securing student health services; providing information and/or complying with care plan.
  • Communicates with supervising instructional staff professional support personnel and parents (e.g. teachers parents counselors etc.) for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
  • Escorts students for the purpose of providing assistance and ensuring their safety.
  • Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
  • Monitors student during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch bus stops playground classroom field trips public transportation assemblies kitchen etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
  • Upholds professional standards laws pertaining to health and/or nursing care and district policies
  • Assists school personnel in establishing safe and sanitary conditions in the schools
  • Collaborates with parents and other care providers in assessing planning implementing and evaluating care and related school health activities
  • Works closely with school health personnel to ensure the safety of our students as well as compliance of state and federal laws and guidelines.
  • Administers first aid in accordance with established school district first aide procedures
  • Identifies and reports suspected child abuse and neglect per applicable laws and school district policies
  • Identifies and reports suspected substance abuse and neglect per school district policies
  • Participates in in-service training programs as required by the district
  • Attends committee meetings and conferences regarding health services and health curriculum as required by the district
  • Participates in continuing education and professional development activities as required by the district.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • 10-month Hourly/Non-Exempt position under FLSA. Placement on Classified salary schedule by the Director of Human Resources dependent upon education and experience

  • Must pass Department of Public Safety Fingerprint clearance check.
  • Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa (if necessary) will be needed for f ingerprint clearance card and I-9 documentation prior to first day of work.

EVALUATION:

  • Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:

  • Proof of Mumps Measles and Rubella (MMR) vaccination.
  • Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
  • Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications official transcripts will be due upon job offer*

* Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.
