About Harris County Flood Control District:
The Districts core mission is to mitigate the risk of flooding in Harris County which boasts a population of over 4.7 million and includes the City of Houston the fourth largest city in the United States. The Districts responsibilities extend to approximately 1500 channels spanning nearly 2500 miles over 60 regional stormwater detention basins covering more than 10000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks such as Greens Bayou.
What you will do atHarris County Flood Control District:
The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Vegetation Management Inspector.
Responsible for inspecting and providing quality control of the Districts drainage and channel maintenance projects. The Inspector will work closely with outside contractors to inspect streams and bayous for needed maintenance including turf establishment mowing debris removal selective clearing tree planting and hazardous tree removal.
Essential Functions and Duties:- Inspect the Districts infrastructure including channels detention basins and buy-out lots for needed maintenance.
- Measure calculate and verify contract quantities completed by the contractor for payment.
- Maintain daily records of work performed by contractors.
- Complete project work orders and schedule contract work.
- Prepare invoice estimates for monthly contractor payments.
- Complete daily status reports project reports and contractor work schedules.
- Schedule and conduct meetings with contractor representatives.
- Prepare correspondence complete forms and maintain records and files.
- Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year verifiable experience in vegetation management construction inspection and/ or landscape Installation
OR:
- Five (5) years experience in project management business or a similar field.
Licensure:Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Valid Class C Texas Drivers License.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Good verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or assignments.
- Ability to be self-motivated. A self-starter.
- Ability to work in an outdoor setting.
- Good organizational skills.

Preferences
Education:
- Bachelors degree in a natural resources field such as Agronomy Forestry or Horticulture.or a related field from an accredited college or university (preferred)

- Work is performed outdoors where there will be routine exposure to significant levels of rain heat cold moisture air pollution noise wind and dust.
