Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a top biotech company who is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to join their team on a 3-6 month contract. The ideal candidate will have strong government contracting experience and will lead the accounting function.
Oversee daily accounting operations and lead a team of five.
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes including journal entries reconciliations and accruals.
Prepare and review financial statements for both internal and external reporting.
Manage indirect rates and incurred cost submissions for government contracts.
Maintain oversight of accounts payable payroll and general ledger integrity.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and federal cost accounting standards (FAR DFARS).
Collaborate with the CFO on forecasting financial analysis and board reporting.
Provide financial support for M&A integration and ongoing organizational restructuring as needed.
Contribute to process improvement and potential system upgrades (Costpoint optimization).
Interface with auditors tax consultants and regulatory agencies as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
10 years of accounting experience including leadership of small accounting teams.
Deep expertise in government contracting.
Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint or other major ERP systems is required.
Experience with self-funded medical benefit accounting is a plus.
Strong communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead during transitions including post-merger or organizational restructuring.
