Rehabilitation Support Workers Deaf Service
Location: Northampton
Salary: From 24483 per annum plus shift enhancements
Hours: Full time - Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm
Purpose of Role
As a Rehab Support worker you will assist our patients with day-to-day activities including guiding them in organising their personal affairs and accompanying them on off-ward activities to empower them to build and maintain their skills in preparation for their future return to the community.
Working with Occupational Therapists you will promote maintain and enhance the patients level of mobility self-care productivity leisure and day-to-day activities. Working with people feeling passionate about supporting and enabling them to live a more independent and fulfilling life is a rewarding career.
You will be reporting directly to the Ward Manager and the role will be working closely with the whole MDT.
Some of your key responsibilities:
In order assist our patients to maximize potential for independence and to live a more fulfilling life you will help them to build and learn new skills in the following areas:
Personal Hygiene
Financial skills
Healthy lifestyle and healthy eating
Tenancy and Housing
Creating daily and weekly planners to help our patients effectively manage their days
Transport in the community Community Vocational Skills
Working in partnership with the wider healthcare team the patient their carer and families your responsibilities will include:
Maintain and monitor clinical assessments interventions
Assist in the modification of care plans
Report relevant observations of a clients condition either verbally or in writing
Inform the patient about services and activities in their community area
Engage with the patients family in regard to leave and future support
Working with patients to make improvements in our service through co-production in ward/charity projects.
A bit about you
We are looking for individuals who:
The use of British Sign Language (BSL) skills will be required for this role. Also an understanding of Deaf Culture is needed to support the patients recovery we have a large experienced team to help support your development in these areas.
You will have experience of working within a mental health service working with challenging patients with the ability to create and maintain a relationship with patients. You will encourage and support the development of others. You will have the ability to analyse and solve problems act with honesty respect commitment and consistency with the ability to communicate clearly within your team to customers and service users.
You will have achieved the Care certificate or equivalent Level 2 Qualification and be computer literate and be able to use a variety of software applications
