Job Description

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Operations Services Division.

This position partners with a research and analytics and subject matter experts to operate advance analytics techniques and methodologies collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance strategies and analysis using healthcare claims health indicators and risk factors to prepare expenditure forecasts and data to aid the department in monitoring and managing the budget; driving information insights through data exploration interpretation and report and dashboard and visual narrative development. This position is a key member of the Office of Research and Performance Analytics and together with the team utilizes healthcare and claims data to solve real-world problems.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

  • Knowledge of the principles practices and theories of applied mathematics and economics which includes statistics.
  • Ability to apply predictive analysis and forecasting methods and principles to policy development and analyze how policy decisions affect other services.
  • Knowledge of fiscal processes and procedures and keeps abreast of changes.
  • Knowledge of the reimbursement methodologies for DPHHS programs.
  • Skill in applying mathematics economics and principles of accounting. Including the application of arithmetic algebra geometry calculus statistics and econometrics.
  • Meet minimum qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in computer science Mathematics Statistics Economics or related field.
    • Three years of job-related work experience such as mathematical modeling and predictive analysis in a health insurance hospital/healthcare consulting governmental or similar business setting.
    • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for a statutory 2.5% an hour base pay increase effective July 1 2025 and July 1 2026.
