Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create products that are unprecedented in the marketplace for their design and quality for the price Then youll have success on our Design team that owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands from apparel to home goods and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts youll drive brand cohesion and continuity ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans assortment strategies price points and overall creative direction.
As a Denim Associate Designer youll be accountable for Universal Thread denim Owned Brand Product Design and Development with direction from your Principal Designer and design leaders to achieve overall product strategy and merchant objectives. You will utilize your proficiency/expertise in knits product design and development to achieve the following:
- Youll support and drive concepts throughout the development process research selection of materials washes and the creation of silhouettes/form language.
- Using CAD/hand sketches youll translate ideas for product direction. This includes preparing professional presentation boards with illustrations CAD artwork fabrication and material samples. In addition you will support and drive product designs to maintain overall creative direction merchant line plans assortment strategies and price points.
- Under the overall direction of Design leadership you will work with an assigned category brand business or guest segment and manage your own process and calendar. You will be expected to maintain a diligent approach to workload which includes timely communication with internal and external partners.
- Youll build brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the division to ensure continuity. In collaboration with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners youll also identify troubleshoot and resolve product issues.

About You:
- Demonstrate love for Denim wash and design
- Must possess a general understanding of the fashion industry and demonstrate an elevated taste level and awareness of womens trends and conceptual work.
- Four-year degree in Design Fine Art or related field or equivalent experience 2 years of relevant experience in Denim Non-Denim washed product Computer design system skills including InDesign Illustrator and Photoshop Experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software
- Experience in wash concept development and wash review/comments
- Experience in shared Design tools like Miro board Canva or similar is a plus
- Experience or interest in sustainability circular design and eco-friendly washing
- Knowledge of textiles denim garment construction/fit
- Commercial sense market knowledge ability to research and apply market/trend information
- Experience assimilating product feedback
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience working in a retail or product development environment
- Ability to build relationships to successfully work in a team environment
- Ability to respond to business objectives with creative innovative and cost-effective design solutions
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Targets needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team members core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually depending upon what your role team and tasks require for that day.
