Help protect one of Floridas most vital resources water with a career at theSouthwest Florida Water Management District (District).
The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources minimize flood risks and ensure the publics water needs are met. We serve a population of nearly 6million people in west-central Florida as directed by state law.
This is your chance to keep Southwest Florida Water Management District humming along with seamless precision. Using a customer-driven team approach our General Services Bureau performs the important work behind the scenes that keeps our entire organization operating smoothly as we manage the water supply and protect our water quality. You will be provided with an opportunity to gain experience in areas such as repairs to District vehicles and equipment. Other tasks may include ordering and tracking of parts/supplies needed for different projects completing paperwork/tracking of repairs and cleaning parts tools and shop equipment. In joining our teamyoull play an important role in enhancing the results to ensure a brighter future for the environment of Florida.
For helping to maintain our valuable water resources as a student we offer:
High School Intern - $13.00 per hour
College Intern - $15.00 per hour
Must have ability to lift and carry 30 pounds while walking. May be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to extremely hot humid weather conditions mosquitoes and other pests. May be exposed to materials that are classified as hazardous VOC products with the use of specialized PPE equipment. May be exposed to elements including sun and rain during entire work period. Must be able to bend squat and climb on a regular basis. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week out of the Brooksville and Tampa Florida offices.
