Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut (UConn) is pleased to invite applications for a faculty position in the Department of Communication at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor at its Storrs campus beginning August 23 2025. This position will teach seven undergraduate courses during the academic year using a 4/3 or 3/4 semester load format. These are likely to include a large lecture section of COMM 2100: Professional Communication along with small writing-intensive seminars such as COMM 3120W: Small Group Communication and/or COMM 3310W: Media Literacy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Communication (granted by start date).
  • Proven track record in both teaching and deploying innovative pedagogical strategies in University-level teaching as the primary instructor or instructor of record.
  • Demonstrated teaching and/or research expertise in Group Dynamics Professional Communication and/or Media Effects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with course management systems (e.g. Blackboard Ultra or similar).
  • Experience teaching large lectures.
  • Experience teaching writing-intensive courses.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is a full-time nine-month position for an initial duration of one year renewable for up to two additional years (three years total) contingent on satisfactory performance mutual agreement and availability of funds.

The successful candidates academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus.
