TITLE: TRANSPORTATION ROUTING ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY: Assist in the scheduling and timing of bus routes and drivers for the district. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director and Assistant of Transportation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in expediting the transportation requests so students receive services in a timely manner.
- Must effectively handle communication between patrons school personnel drivers and the Transportation Department. Must have pleasant customer service oriented telephone and reception skills.
- Assist with the design implementation and development of bus routes.
- Operates two-way radio and assists drivers of special changes to routes and other directions or locations by using a map to locate specific addresses.
- Work effectively as a team member within the department and across the district.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Assist in performing simulations and analysis of bus routes using a routing software.
- Drive routes when necessary.
- Open and/or close the office.
- Coordinates the preparation of student bus referrals.
- Reviews and provides bus video to the Director of Transportation and school site administrators.
- Review and enter data into the Student Information System.
- Perform all additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must have or be willing to acquire CDL license with Passenger and School Bus endorsements and State School Bus Drivers Certification.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of routing software activity trip software student management software.
- Perform difficult complex and confidential responsibilities independently and effectively
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Generally the job requires 60% sitting 30 walking and 10% standing
- Work environment is both indoors and outdoors.
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- May experience constant interruptions inflexible deadlines and changes to normal routines.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 1.308 pay ratio
- 205 Work Day Contract
- 8 Hours Per Day
