Transylvania University located in Lexington KY is seeking a qualified Admissions Counselor. The Admissions Counselors essential responsibility is to recruit future students for the University. Counselors have a recruitment goal (number of students) each year based on the recruitment territory national and regional trends expectations of the University and a number of recruitment activities. The Admissions Counselor will work with students parents or family members high school counselors and independent counselors as well as University faculty staff current students and administration.
Essential Duties
Visit high schools within the assigned recruitment territory; potentially in and out of state
Attend and participate in college fairs within the assigned recruitment territory
Communicate with students and families via phone email social media etc.
Meet with students and families with the assigned recruitment territory and serve as their connection to the University.
Give presentations on and off campus about the University application process financial aid academic programs campus life athletics
Read and evaluate application materials including standardized tests essays resumes lists of extracurricular activities transcripts recommendation letters etc.
Evaluate students applications for academic scholarship consideration
Work with various offices across campus to recruit and retain students and/or serve on committees that affect the recruitment process (i.e. alumni offices academic and fine arts faculty international student support etc).
Assist with planning on and off-recruitment-related events
Meet the goals of recruitment territory in terms of the number of students enrolled.
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Admissions
Must have a valid drivers license.
