Presbyterian is seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist. In this role youwill provide Recovery Coaching to patients struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. Recovery Coaching is a set of non-clinical activities based on shared lived experience that engage educate and support an individual to successfully recover from mental or substance use disorders. Peer Recovery Support Specialists act as a recovery and empowerment catalyst: guiding the recovery process and supporting individual recovery choices goals and decisions. They may assist the patient in identifying personal and environmental obstacles to recovery link the recovering person to the recovery community and serve as a personal guide and mentor in the management of personal and family recovery. A Peer Recovery Support Specialist does not serve the role of sponsor. A Peer Recovery Support Specialist models competency in resiliency and recovery and ongoing coping skills. Peer Recovery Support Specialists work closely with the patients treatment team and when needed works with patients family and community as well

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Communicates and coordinates with hospital staff funders and community partners
Creates reports and presentations as needed
Works independently and collaboratively to deliver services aligned with funder and organization requirements
Uses motivational interviewing to engage patients in recovery
Conducts patient assessments
Provides Naloxone education alongside clinical staff
Connects patients with relevant community resources
Ensures smooth care transitions by working with outside providers
Assists patients in securing appointments before discharge
Maintains regular follow-up contact after discharge
Tracks patient progress and outcomes
Adheres to all relevant regulations and policies
Supports patients through peer mentorship based on personal recovery experience
Manages logistics including patient transportation and appointments
Fosters a supportive community through activities and collaboration
Identifies and links patients with long-term support services like housing employment and continuing care
