Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the Metal and Wood Supply Center production processes production teams and the areas that support those efforts. Production areas include Tool & Die Press Deburr Rivet Assembly Wire Form E-Coat Paint Machine Mig Welding (manual & robotic) Material Handlers Interplant Stock Pickers Lumber Wood Processing Wood Finishing Bag Fusing and Interplant Shipping. Facilitate the overall management of the organization as a member of the leadership team.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the supply operations and meets safety performance metrics outlined in the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Oversee and ensure an efficient and cost-effective flow of product through the production system achieving financial results as outlined in the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Deliver performance consistent with Annual Operating Plan objectives and assist in developing AOP.
  • Responsible for achieving key performance metrics including labor material and overhead targets established by the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products to meet schedule requirements.
  • Manage E-1 system for the department including inventory scheduling sales orders work order management shipping and billing of materials.
  • Coordinate with the Materials Traffic and Quality leadership to ensure the quality and delivery of the product meets internal and external customer expectations.
  • Manage order fulfillment for La-Z-Boy manufacturing plants and international exports.
  • Drive constant improvement initiatives across all teams.
  • Interact with members of the Plant Lead Team to develop strategic vision and action plans.
  • Oversee the design development and implementation of new parts fixtures prototypes and processes for Research & Development.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operational work practices.

SCOPE & IMPACT:

This position provides leadership for the Metal and Wood Supply areas with an asset cost of 16 million dollars. The Wood Supply Center is a single-source supplier of hardwood parts and fused bags for the Residential Division. This business unit is the only hardwood business La-Z-Boy operates and is critical to providing contingency options for the company to support any internal or external supplier issues or shortages. The Metal Supply Center is a dual supplier to the Division and International partners of proprietary metal parts. The position manages 2 shifts with a labor and overhead budget of 23 million dollars. Manages inventory of raw steel and hardwood lumber with an average balance of 7 million dollars.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in business engineering or related field with 6-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of leadership/supervisory experience with proven leadership directing large organizations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Quality tools such as APQP PPAP Capability Studies Sampling Plans and Data Collection.
  • Understanding of Materials Management.
  • Proficient in financial systems and operational metrics.
  • Travel Required: Up to 10%.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of E1.
  • General knowledge of environmental impacts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1-10 exempt direct reports with 200 indirect reports

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Operates in a professional office environment as well as within a manufacturing environment subject to inside environmental conditions and noise. Often required to sit use repetitive hand motions hear listen talk stand and walk. Seldom required to climb stairs reach overhead pull push and lift up to 30 pounds.
