About the Work Unit
This position is in CDOTs Region 4 North Engineering Program in the Greeley Engineering Residency. This residency is responsible administer transportation construction and design contracts within a specific geographical area and to oversee the contractors and consultants performing the work. Design activities include the development of construction plans specifications and preliminary estimates for the advertisement of the budgeted transportation projects along with the units specified corridors. Design activities are either performed with the in-house design team or are administered through design consultant contracts. The designs used must meet the guidelines standards and policies of the State of Colorado and the Federal Highway Administration and stay within the project scope and budget. During design this unit initiates and scopes projects creates plans and specifications estimates costs and prepares projects for bid. Construction activities include testing of materials. During construction monitors the work done by contractors to assure conformance with the plans and specifications. This unit directs and monitors the work of consultants performing design and construction engineering functions. Throughout the project this unit maintains records of the work monitors budgets and schedules monitors quality and processes payments to consultants and contractors as well as providing preliminary survey data. Projects are assigned and applied through a combination of formal instructions and on-the-job training.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or engineering technology.

A current valid driver license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
