About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and results-driven Credit Analyst to join our team. This role is critical to assessing the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers supporting responsible lending decisions and maintaining a high-performing loan portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills a good understanding of SME lending in Nigeria and a passion for contributing to inclusive finance.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Assessment & Analysis

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and cash flow projections of loan applicants.

  • Evaluate credit applications and assess risk based on financial and non-financial metrics.

  • Review client documentation including business plans bank statements and invoices.

Risk Evaluation & Monitoring

  • Identify credit risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Maintain and improve credit risk models and internal risk grading systems.

  • Proactively monitor active loan accounts to detect and manage delinquency trends.

Portfolio Management

  • Monitor the performance of credit portfolios (SME loans vendor finance etc.).

  • Recommend loan restructuring solutions when necessary.

  • Prepare reports on portfolio health for internal use and regulatory compliance.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to credit policy and regulatory requirements.

  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to fulfill KYC and AML obligations.

  • Stay updated on credit regulations market trends and financial sector developments.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Credit Decision Turnaround Time: 5 working days

  • Non-Performing Loan (NPL) Ratio: 5%

  • Credit Report Accuracy & Timeliness: 100%

  • Policy Compliance: 100% adherence to internal and CBN standards

  • Internal Stakeholder Satisfaction: 90% (survey-based)

  • Policy Contributions: 1 framework or policy input per quarter

  • Social Impact Support: 70% of loans aligned with impact segments (youth women underserved)




Requirements

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Business Administration or related discipline.

  • 3 5 years experience in credit analysis preferably within a financial institution or impact-focused lender.

  • Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis credit risk modeling and SME lending.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel credit scoring systems and financial modeling tools.

  • Sound understanding of the Nigerian financial services environment.
